Intro

A few weeks ago, I got great feedback on my article Enneagram Type 5 vs Enneagram Type 4. Everyone enjoyed it, and everyone complained that it was too long. So, this week I am breaking up the normally almost 2500 word blog posts into several 300-500 word posts. If you liked the long version, don’t worry I will release it at the end of the week. Since I am breaking up the posts into bite-size bits, you might want to check this one to get a better introduction into the series. Here is your Enneagram Type 7 parenting tip: have fun.

Enneagram Type 7 Parenting Tip: Have Fun

Many people often look at parenting as some sort of drudgery, but parenting can be fun. Yeah it’s hard, and yeah kids will drain the life out of you, but having an Enneagram Type 7 kid will help you have more fun. They need fun. So instead of being the prison warden of the fun police why not be the joy master? How do you do it? Get your verb on.

Dance, sing, run, chase, walk, talk, laugh, giggle, tickle, be loud, be quiet, jump, hop, skip, kick, hit, smile, eat, drink. Whatever verb you choose to experience it, do it all the way. Fill it up with fun.

We are constantly trying to manage our kids either at school at home with their friends at church or even with their own feelings. Lead your kids to fun instead of managing their behaviors.  Click To Tweet

Imagine

Sharing and Enneagram Line allows for a unique depth of relationship that you can’t receive with other Enneagram Types. In some ways they are your worst enemies, but also the most desperately needed of friends. Types 5’s and 7’s are some great frenemies. The can cause each other great pain, but imagine how much fun they could have. Not the normal types of fun we see but unique fun.

Types 5’s suck at having fun on their own, usually, but with a little prodding they can open up a whole new world of fun that most people miss. Because they catch some of the tinier details, the details blow up into something you never would’ve cared about before. Finding the unique things in life like that give us a fuller richer experience. Imagine what a Type 7 who is willing to slow down and a Type 5 willing to come out from behind their wall can accomplish!

P.S. Don’t forget the Enneagram Type 7 Parenting Tip. I need this advice as much as anyone else. Also here are links to the rest of the series.
