COVID-19, Here to Stay

COVID-19 is here. It is here to stay for a while. Opening Day of baseball has been postponed and the NCAA basketball tournaments canceled. They represent a significant dollar loss. That means the organizations suspect they will lose more money (maybe over the long haul) by hosting these events. Seldom has sports failed to alleviate our trials and tribulations by blessing us with their continuity. Is there anything good or any blessing here?

Work From Home

In the personal realm, schools are being closed and many are working from home full-time for the first time. The internet is going to get a workout this summer.

Now you might be annoyed that your kids and you will be occupying the same space. Children, no matter the age, are seldom quiet when you are trying to work. I challenge you though to see it as a blessing.

The Blessing of Family

For those of you with older kids, this may be the perfect chance to get close again or maybe for the first time. You are stuck with your kids and they are stuck with you. You can either hate it or use it. Strengthen a relationship or lay the foundation for the coming decades.

For those of you with younger kids, learn to occupy the same space with them. That means getting on the floor and playing with them. Go outside and toss the baseball or football. Teach them to ride that bike. You have nowhere else to go. Don’t dread the endless whining and noise of small children. Enjoy it. The people I was talking to in the previous paragraph will say the same thing.

All kids, young or old, large or small, want their parent’s attention. Give it to them and be prepared to receive their attention. Over the next little bit, I will be preparing several articles to help alleviate the stress that being in a house with your kids 24/7 can create. The next article is here.
